A file with the CUR extension is a static Windows cursor image file format similar to icons (ICO files). Like its icon counterpart (ICO files), CUR files also contain small still images; however, CUR files differ in that they contain an additional identification byte and hotspot location specification based on where your mouse pointer is currently pointing (x and y coordinates). Cursors typically appear as either an arrow indicating normal cursor movement or as spinning hourglass when something is being loaded - animated cursors now use an additional extension: ANI for animating cursors!
